100%Access/0% Disparities:

This initiative is a broad undertaking directed at decreasing the number of uninsured in our primary service are. The goal of this program is to provide health insurance and/or access to health care for individuals while simultaneously decreasing overall health care cost and eliminating disparities. The U. S. Department of Health and Human services has identified Access/Disparities as significant issues facing many communities across the country.

The Partnership has examined other programs nationally and has assessed the need for such a program in Greater New Haven. We are planning a sustainable and replicable model using strategic collaborations and other innovative methods consistent with our Greater New Haven market. We have engaged three key organizations in this effort: the Chamber of Commerce, Empower New Haven and the Connecticut Insurance Trust.

The Partnership has examined access to Specialty Health Care Services for the uninsured. We are now developing a plan for to enhance Specialty Care for individuals receiving Medicaid and SAGA.

The Greater New Haven Partnership for a Healthy Community sponsored a forum on Universal Health Care in May 2006 and is planning a Grant Round on Universal Health Care in February 2007.
